A Garden Built
to Last

How a name that means harvest became a cafe that invites people to slow down.

The Ani Cafe story

Ani Means Harvest

"Ani" is the Filipino word for harvest — for gathering the best of what is ripe, intentional, and worth savoring. It was the perfect name for a cafe built on the belief that a good space should give you something to take home with you: a feeling, a flavor, a memory.

Ani Cafe was born in Makati with a very specific vision: to bring the warmth and beauty of Studio Ghibli's hand-drawn worlds into a real, livable space. The layered greens, the warm afternoon light, the sense that every corner has a story — all of it drawn from the films we grew up loving and the places we wanted to find in real life.

We spent time on the details: on what grows in the planters, on what plays in the background, on which seats have the best light, on what your coffee should taste like in a space that actually feels like home.

The result is Ani Cafe — a place in Makati that is, first and foremost, worth sitting down in.

Three Things We Never Compromise On

The Space is the Experience

Before the coffee, before the food, there is the space. We designed Ani Cafe so that sitting here feels like stepping into a world. Every plant, every fixture, every angle of light was chosen on purpose — because how a place looks shapes how a meal tastes.

Food Worth Ordering Again

Every item on our menu was put there because we genuinely wanted to eat it. From the anihaw skewers to the pasta plates, we cook things that are honest, well-seasoned, and satisfying. Not complicated for the sake of it — just good.

Warmth in Every Interaction

We take our food seriously and our service lightly. You don't need to know the right words to order here. We want everyone — first-timers, regulars, solo diners, big groups — to feel like they belong in this garden.

Five Values That Guide Us

01

Ingredients With Intention

We source what we can locally and seasonally. Not every item, not every day — but we care about where the food comes from, and it shows in how it tastes. Every dish on the menu was chosen with that in mind.

02

Space That Breathes

Ani Cafe was designed to feel alive. Plants grow here. Light changes with the hour. The space has texture and layers — because spaces that feel lived-in are the ones people come back to. We maintain that feeling every single day.

03

Service That Feels Genuine

Good service is not performance — it's presence. We train our team to be warm, attentive, and unhurried. If something isn't right, we fix it. If you have a question, we answer it honestly. That's the standard.

04

Community Before Hype

We love when people post about Ani Cafe. But the community we most care about is the one that comes back — the regulars, the neighborhood, the people who chose us on a Tuesday afternoon with no occasion. Those visits matter most.

05

Beauty in Simplicity

Studio Ghibli's genius isn't in the spectacle — it's in the small, quiet moments that make you feel something. We try to capture that here. The right cup of coffee, the right seat by the window, the right song at the right time. Small things, done well.

The Ani Timeline

The Vision

A World Worth Building

The idea starts with a simple question: what if a cafe could feel like a Ghibli scene? Layered, green, warm, and just slightly magical. The brief is written not on paper but in mood — a collection of references, films, and places that don't exist yet.

The Space

Finding the Garden

A location in Makati is found and transformed. Plants are sourced, interiors are built, and the kitchen is designed around the menu we want to serve. Everything is tested, tasted, and adjusted until it feels right.

Opening

The Garden Opens

Ani Cafe opens its doors in Makati. The first guests walk in and — some of them say it out loud — it feels like stepping into a Ghibli film. That's exactly what we were going for. The menu gets its first real test. It passes.

Community

Regulars Arrive

Word spreads through Instagram, through word of mouth, through people dragging friends here on weekend afternoons. A community begins to form — not just followers, but people who genuinely claim this space as their own.

Now

Still Growing, Still Rooted

Ani Cafe is a fixture in Makati's garden of great cafes. The menu continues to evolve. The plants keep growing. The community keeps coming back. And we keep asking the same question we started with: is this beautiful, and is it good?
